Ghaziabad police is on the lookout for a tantrik (witch doctor) in connection with cases of grave-digging and dismembering bodies reported from Arya Nagar graveyard at Ghaziabad’s Loni area.
Residents have reported four incidents in last 20 days and six in the past two months.
Senior police officials visited the spot on Tuesday and found some more clues that hinted the people practising black magic were involved.
Earlier, Loni station officer Ashok Rana had termed it as the work of an animal.
Ghaziabad SSP Akhil Kumar on Tuesday constituted a task force with the help of residents.
“We are on the lookout for a Tantrik. This person resided in Masoori area of Ghaziabad last year and was involved in such incidents. Residents had thrashed him up when they came to know about his involvement. He has been absconding since then. The same incidents are occurring in Loni and we intend to nab him,” the SSP said.
The incidents have set panic among the residents who denied any possibilities of this to be a work of an animal.
“During last two months six incidents have been reported in the graveyard. Police has not been able to find out the exact reason for the same,” said Imam of Arya Nagar Jama Masjid.
On Tuesday, another body of a girl was found dug out from the grave. She was buried around 20 days back.
On Saturday, a dead body of an infant was dug out from the graveyard and was missing.
