The 12-year-old boy who alleged that he was sodomised by a 14-year-old in Central Delhi’s Arya orphanage, has now said that he was physically abused by one of his teacher-wardens too.

In his statement to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), the boy has said that the teacher also sexually abused other children of the orphanage.

“Sunil (name changed) shared the name of his teacher as the person who has been sexually abusing other children. This information is supposedly new for the police,” states the CWC order.

The committee has forwarded all these details to the police and has asked them to investigate the matter and submit a report in two days.

“We have shifted the victim to one of the homes registered with us. The child needs counselling. We will also be holding a meeting to decide how other children will be shifted,” said Kiran Walia, minister, woman and child welfare.

Delhi Police are planning to get Sunil’s statements recorded in front of a magistrate.

“To question the warden, we have to first get the boy’s statement recorded. That will be enough to arrest the warden,” a senior police officer said. When contacted, Arya orphanage authorities denied the involvement of the warden.

“We have not received any report from the CWC, so far. Our wardens have not done anything wrong,” said Balraj Chaudhary, spokesperson of the orphanage. CWC has also decided to take out Sunil’s younger brother, who is still living in the orphanage.

“Seeing the victim’s condition and the fact that he requires emotional support, we have decided to shift him to another home along with his brother,” said a senior Delhi government official.
