The wet weather will, in all probability, give way to some sunlight in the weekend, the meteorological department said on Friday.
Resembling a cross between monsoon and winter, the prevailing weather in the Capital kept Delhiites in their winter gear with umbrellas drawn.
The mercury remained at a cool 22.4 degrees Celsius, six degrees less than what it is supposed to be this time of the season. The minimum touched 17 degrees Celsius — a tad high — thanks to the overcast sky trapping some heat since yesterday.
“The weather is clearing,” said the duty officer at the Safdarjung unit of the India Meteorological Department. “While there could be some thundershower on Saturday, the process of clearing out has begun.”
The BBC Weather has predicted “sunny intervals” in the next two days.
The grey clouds showed no signs of leaving Delhi's skies on Friday, successfully hiding the sun and adding to the unseasonable chill.
“The rain systems which had arrived in the hills coupled with the cyclone over Arabian Sea has left this much moisture in the air. But the effect is on the wane,” said the weatherman.
For Saturday, the weatherman has predicted that the mercury will remain between 17 and 23 degrees Celsius.
