‘Why didn’t we go after Pawar and Patel?’
BJP MP Maneka Gandhi on Tuesday questioned her party’s stand of not demanding the resignations of Union ministers Sharad Pawar and Praful Patel for their alleged involvement in the IPL scam.
BJP MP Maneka Gandhi on Tuesday questioned her party’s stand of not demanding the resignations of Union ministers Sharad Pawar and Praful Patel for their alleged involvement in the IPL scam. The party had lost the advantage that it had secured by attacking a tainted Shashi Tharoor, she reportedly said at the BJP’s parliamentary party meet.
Many see this as a veiled attack on Arun Jaitley, who is vice-president of the BCCI. The party’s official position of not attacking Patel the way they attacked Tharoor on grounds of lack of “clinching evidence” had earlier been obliquely challenged by Yashwant Sinha, who had said Patel should quit the cabinet.
Maneka differed with the party’s view and said Patel’s daughter Poorna’s “flouting of rules” was evidence enough for the party to go hammer-and-tongs against him.
