A man, his female partner, and his father were summoned on Tuesday by a Delhi court on a complaint by his wife seeking his prosecution for “indulging in bigamy”.
Chief metropolitan magistrate Vinod Yadav summoned the central Delhi resident, his alleged second wife and his father on the woman’s complaint.
The court had earlier asked the police to conduct a probe into the woman’s complaint.
The police had found that the man and his female partner had got a number of documents such as a voter identity card prepared to show that they had been legally wedded.
The police said it was apparent on the face of it that the man and his partner had tricked the government departments into issuing public documents on the basis of false information.
It also submitted that the man’s parents (complainant’s parents-in-law) had also abetted him in indulging in bigamy and causing mental and physical harm to his legally-wedded wife and their children.
The complainant, in her plea to the court, has said that she got married in 1983 and had a happy married life for some time but her husband spoilt it by entering into an adulterous relationship with the other woman.
She said that he shifted to another house with the second woman after his business flourished.
