The Delhi police have arrested four persons in connection with the murder of a man who was shot at outside the Mayur Vihar Phase-1 Metro station. The victim's wife and her paramour have also been arrested.

Police said the victim's wife had hired a contract killer to get him eliminated as he often used to harass her physically and mentally. “The arrested persons have been identified as the victim's wife Anju, her paramour Deepak, Rahul and Sanjeev. Rahul and Sanjeev had agreed to kill Prasad for R2 lakh," said Prabhakar, DCP (east).

The victim, Shiv Prasad, allegedly had a criminal background. He was shot at outside the Metro station on February 4, police said. He succumbed to his injuries on February 9. In his statement to the police, he had alleged that his wife Anju might be behind the attack.

"Shiv Prasad had got married to Anju in 1996 when she was only 14 years old. He had kidnapped her brother and forced her to marry him," said Prabhakar. “Prasad had a bad temper and often used to harass Anju emotionally and physically. Things worsened whenever he got drunk,” he added.

Police said Prasad even forced Anju to prostitution. After she met Deepak, she narrated to him her story. Deepak and Anju eloped in August 2011 and started living in Trilokpuri. But they always wanted Prasad dead and decided to hire contract killers.

On February 4, Deepak called Prasad to the Metro Station. As Rahul and Sanjeev did not recognise Prasad, Deepak called them to the station. Sanjeev shot at Prasad, while Rahul sat in a car with country-made pistol. They fled in the car after shooting Prasad.
