Claiming that the Talwars were innocent, their lawyer said a local court's order summoning them as accused in their daughter Aarushi's murder case was a big jolt and would be challenged at a higher court.
"What happened between the first and second time is a big cover-up. There isn't any material evidence against Rajesh and Nupur. They are completely innocent. We will prove categorically that someone else had killed Aarushi. Nothing but victimisation is being done," the Talwars' lawyer, Rebecca John, told reporters on Wednesday.
Dismissing reports that the couple will be arrested, Rebecca John said the court has not ordered their arrest but only summoned the dentist couple.
"It is an unfortunate order but a judicial order. I bow to the order. Whatever remedies are available to us, we will use them and challenge the order in a superior court. It is a challengeable order. We will decide in two days as to which court to approach," adding, there was absolutely no arrest warrant or apprehension of the couple's arrest.
John said a higher court could revive Rajesh Talwar's petition against the closure report which had been rejected by the CBI court in Ghaziabad.
Dr Talwar's sister-in-law, Vandana Talwar, said: “As a family, we are completely shattered. They (Rajesh and Nupur) have lost their child. Why are you maligning (referring to CBI and media) the family? It is very unfortunate that they have been chargesheeted. We don’t know under whose pressure this is happening,” she added.
