A 55-year-old woman and her five accomplices were arrested in the national capital for their alleged involvement in more than three robberies in the city over the past two months, police said today.

Meena Begum, the woman who was arrested by the Anti-Robbery Cell of Delhi Police, is claimed be the master operative who conducted recess for her gang, controlled the finances, arranged for selling stolen property and chalking out escape routes, a senior police official said.

Those arrested also include Shahid (28), Rakesh (30), Pappu (26), Khan Chand (24) and a receiver Vikas (24).

Her son, wanted in over 27 cases, and the alleged chief executioner of the robberies, is on the run along with some other members of the gang.

Begum and four others are resident of western UP while Shahid is a resident of Alwar in Rajasthan, the official said, adding Vikas stays at Ashok Nagar in Delhi.

Shahid has 22 cases registered against him across three states - Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi. Almost all of these cases have been registered between 2006 and 2007.

The recent arrests came after a tip off that the gang would be coming towards Nand Nagri through Loni border.

During interrogation, the official claimed, they admitted to their involvement in three robberies at New Usmanpur, Geeta Colony and Nand Nagri.
