A 60-year-old woman was attacked and robbed off by unidentified robbers at her Amar Colony residence on Tuesday night. The woman, identified as Saroj Kapoor, was living at the first floor of E-101 and was hit by a blunt object.
Police said some cash and jewellery is missing from the house and they are waiting for the victim to get fit for statement. Initial investigation suggests the robbers entered the house around 5pm and there are no signs of forceful entry.
“We were informed about the incident by the resident of 2nd floor of the building and we rushed there immediately. She was lying in the pool of blood and it appears that she walked to balcony after being attacked by robbers. She was rushed to VIMHANS where her condition is said to be critical,” said Chanda Kapoor, Saroj’s relative.
Saroj Kapoor, a widow, was alone at the time of incident and her three children were at their respective offices.
“Victim’s statement would clear the sequence of events,” said Ajay Chaudhry, additional CP (southeast). Police suspect involvement of labourers who had come to the building for maintenance work on Sunday and were aware of presence of cash and jewellery.
