A woman committed suicide by jumping in front of an approaching Metro train at the Yamuna Bank station on Sunday evening.

Police said the woman jumped in front of the train going towards Vaishali at around 558PM. She was later identified as Anjali, who was in her mid 30’s. Initial investigation revealed that the woman hailed from Allahabad.

A Central Industrial Security Force officer said CCTV footage showed the woman wandering aimlessly at the Metro station for more than 10 minutes before jumping in front of an arriving Metro train at platform number three.

Police sources said they recovered a Metro card, a mobile phone and Rs 40 rupees from her bag. Police are probing her call detail records, and they are trying to contact her family members to probe why she committed suicide.

“We did not recover any suicide note from her possession. Metro services on the route were disrupted for around 20 minutes after the incident,” the officer said.

Following the incident, the Metro trains were delayed by at least 15-20 minutes.
