A 26-year-old woman from Haryana’s Jhajjar was allegedly drugged and gang-raped in a moving car by three men in southwest Delhi’s Najafgarh on Wednesday evening.
According to the police, three men took turns in raping the woman before dumping her at an isolated spot near an ashram in Najafgarh in an unconscious state. The accused, police said, included a 19-year-old boy, who the victim claimed was her husband, and his two relatives.
Sources said the incident came to light around 9 pm after a man made called the police to inform that a woman was lying unconscious in a lane near Udasin Ashram in Najafgarh.
“The woman was rushed to a government hospital. In her statement, she alleged that she was drugged and raped by her husband and his two relatives in a moving Maruti Alto car. Her medical examination confirmed rape and a case was registered. The accused were arrested and the Alto car later seized,” the officer investigating the case said.
The victim told the police that she came to Bakkarwala after one of her assumed husband’s relative apparently asked her to come to Delhi for court marriage. In the afternoon, she was told that she would be dropped home in a car in which her husband’s two male relatives were already present.
“On the way, they offered her soft drink laced with sedatives. She fell unconscious and the three took turn to rape her in the car. They later dumped her at an isolated place,” the officer said quoting the victim’s complaint.
The main accused, according to the victim, is her husband whom she married in a Delhi temple last month. She also claimed that despite being his wife he did not allow her to stay with him at his house in Bakkarwala near Najafgarh.
Police said the victim had lodged a rape complaint earlier too in February but later reached a compromise and the FIR was withdrawn.
