A 24 year old woman, a former employee with Noida based news channel has lodged case of harassment and blackmail against her ex assignment in charge. She has alleged that he made an obscene MMS of her while she was unconscious and had been blackmailing her with it.
On the complaint of the woman, an FIR was registered on Monday at Sector 58 police station against the accused, Abhijit Sinha. The victim, who is the daughter of a retired sub inspector in Aligarh, said V C Tripathi, Deputy Superintendent of Police.
The DSP said the accused hails from Bihar, but is currently living in Kondli, Delhi. He said that Sinha was arrested by the Aligarh Police, too, on July 4 under sections 452, 354 and 506 of Indian Penal Code.
"He had gone to the woman's house and assaulted and threatened them. He is now out on bail. He was forced to resign from the channel after the case," Tripathi said.
According to the DSP, the woman had stated in her complaint that Sinha, who was her assignment head, befriended her two years ago. Once when she visited his house, Sinha drugged and made an obscene MMS of her. He then forced her to live with him.
"Her parents had arranged her marriage with another boy. The accused demanded Rs 5 lakh otherwise he threatened to defame her. She further alleged that the accused sent the letter and MMS to her husband, too, when she refused to pay the money," the DSP said.
However, Sinha denied all allegations. "Ours was live in relationship. In January 2009, she left the job and since then was living with me till June 1, 2010, when her father took her home after I asked him if I could marry her," he said.
He accused the woman of using police connections to lodge false cases against him. He said it was because he had asked for a refund of Rs 1 lakh that the woman's family had taken from him.
“I am in Bihar. To the Noida Police, I have sent my account statement to show the money given to her father and her emails and letters that confirmed she was in love with me.”
