Geeta Arora alias Sonu Punjaban has been arrested for the third time for allegedly running a prostitution racket from a South Delhi locality.

Geeta Arora alias Sonu Punjaban has been arrested for the third time for allegedly running a prostitution racket from a South Delhi locality. Punjaban is allegedly a high-profile ‘Madam’ (a term used by the local police to address women pimps) of the city and has ties with big businessmen, gangsters and local politicians. She was arrested on Friday night. Police sources said she had “special orders for celebrations on account of the World Cup cricket final”.

The South Delhi police arrested her from IGNOU Road area with four other girls, all allegedly recruited by Punjaban.

The police said Punjaban came to the spot with the four girls in a luxury car. She was followed by four men in another car who work as bouncers for her. Punjaban was travelling in a Mahindra Scorpio and was followed by the men in a Hyundai Santro car. The police said they had information about Punjaban and sent a decoy customer to get in touch with her.

Punjaban took the decoy customer to a house in Mehrauli, where the deal was supposed to be struck. The police said a deal was made for R45, 000.

“As soon as the deal was struck, we arrested Punjaban, the men and the girls,” said a senior police officer. The police said Punjaban “supplies” call girls to high-profile clients not only in the Capital, but also in cities like Mumbai a. “Initially, she started the flesh trade alone and formed a group of aspiring models and actresses later. She used to source aspiring models and sex workers from different states,” he added.

Punjaban is known to have close links with the underworld. Her slew of husbands included gangsters who were killed in different shootouts. One of her husbands was slain gangster Hemant who was killed in a shootout in April 2006.
