The fortunate few whose children have made it to the school of their choice are rejoicing.

But others, with flagging hopes, are now looking frantically in some of the schools in the NCR region to get admission for their child in nursery.

“Some of the parents have applied to nearly all the schools but have not been able to make it to any of them. Some are not hopeful of making it through the waiting list or the second list and are therefore applying to schools in the NCR as a second option,” said Sumit Vohra, founder of the forum www.admissionsnursery.com.

Prominent city schools have a long waiting list for students from the general category and this has led to an unending wait for these parents.

While Delhi Public School (DPS) East of Kailash, has a waiting list of 67 students, DPS Vasant Vihar has a waiting list of 49. Springdales School, Pusa Road, has a waiting list of 71 students, while Springdales School, Kirti Nagar, has 93 students who have been waitlisted.

“I had applied to 27 schools for my son’s admission. But he did not make it to the list in any of them. Now we are looking at NCR schools. Even though most schools have closed the admission process, we are still hopeful,” said Amit Saxena, a parent.

Some parents hold the points system responsible for their situation.

“Despite applying to 15 schools, my son has not been able to make it anywhere. This is because he is a first born and I’m not an alumnus of any Delhi school,” said Mumtaz Ansari, another parent.
