Sachin Talwar is a live wire. Speak to anyone in the Event Management industry and they will tell you he is the man who became CEO of CRI Events in less than eight years. What is more, soon after he set up his own company — WOW Events.

A Delhi boy, Sachin did a BCom from BR Ambedkar College, and it was in his second year in college that he discovered his calling quite by chance in the form of a summer-job.

That summer his job at CRI paid him all of Rs 125 every day. He says, “It was a promotion for the MTV Video Gaga contest. We used to go to popular hangouts and promote the programme. I’ve put up posters, carried a Discman and identified target audiences who would get prizes if they could answer our questions right.”

In the final year of college, while at work on the premiere of

Kaho Na Pyaar Hai

Talwar decided that this was it. He says, “I was dealing with the biggest guys in the industry — the biggest sound supplier, the biggest lights guy etc. At one point, Hrithik Roshan and Amisha Patel were standing next to me. That was when I decided.”

From a part-time, student summer job, Sachin climbed the ladder at CRI Events. “I was growing, the company was growing and so was the industry,” he says.

Along the line, as different areas of the job caught his fancy, Sachin picked up whatever skills he thought he needed.

“When I got interested in the actual design aspect, I took a crash course in Corel Draw and Photoshop, so that I knew how to translate my vision onto paper.” He continues to work passionately and hopes his Wow Events will be a market leader soon.
