The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) in association with the Haryana irrigation department on Friday laid the foundation stone for the construction of a Rs 3.25-crore bridge over the western Yamuna canal to connect Rohini Sector 15 with Sector 18.
Delhi BJP chief Vijender Gupta, who laid the foundation stone, said around Rs 1.18 crore will be given to the Haryana irrigation department to complete the bridge. The civic body will spend the remaining amount for developing roads on either side.
"In nearly five years, MCD has changed the face of the national capital. After the bridge is built, people on both sides of the canal would be able to move without any hassle," said Gupta.
MCD standing committee chairman Yogender Chandolia, who was the chief guest at the occasion, said "funds have never been a problem for developmental works".
