A 25-year-old man was killed and his uncle severely injured when two motorcycle-borne robbers stabbed them with sharp-edged weapons in Kalyanpuri area of East District on Sunday night.

The robbers reportedly escaped from the spot after stabbing them and snatching Rs 10,000 and a few documents. A passerby found them lying on the road in a pool of blood.

Police said that the deceased, Jeetender, was on his way to Delhi from Ghaziabad with his uncle Mool Chand (35) when the incident happened.

“We received a call that two men were found few meters away from Kalyanpuri Police Station. We rushed them to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital, where the doctors declared Jeetender brought dead. Moolchand is out of danger and is undergoing treatment,” said a senior police officer.

The officer added that Moolchand said he was coming from Ghaziabad with Jeetender when two men on a motorcycle stopped them. The bikers asked them to hand over the money. When they resisted, the assailants stabbed them with sharp weapons.

After injuring the duo, they took the cash and fled from the spot. The police have registered a case and are investigating the matter. A manhunt has been launched to nab the assailants.
