Zee News Group chairman Subhash Chandra and managing director Puneet Goenka are expected to join the investigation into the alleged extortion bid case lodged by Congress MP Naveen Jindal's firm on Saturday.
However, Delhi Police officers as well as insiders in Zee Group are not sure when they would arrive at the crime branch's office in Chanakyapuri.
Sudhir Chaudhary and Samir Ahluwalia, two editors of Zee News arrested in connection with the case, will also be produced before a Delhi court on Saturday. Police will seek their remand for a day to confront them with Chandra and Goenka.
Representatives of the Zee Group could not confirm till Friday evening when Chandra and Goenka will join the investigation, sources said. Insiders in Zee Group, including its lawyer, even claimed they were not aware of Chandra's return to India from London.
They are both expected to join investigation on Saturday as the crime branch, in response to Chandra's letter in which he told police that he will appear within four days of notice, served them a third notice on Tuesday.
Delhi Police had earlier served two notices to Chandra and Goenka in November asking them to join the probe after the arrest of the two editors for their alleged bid to extort Rs.100 crore from Jindal's company for not airing news against them.
