Girl dies in hospital queue, two officials face action
GURGAON: An 11-year-old girl died at the state-run Civil Hospital Gurgaon on Tuesday after standing in a queue for over three hours.
As per eyewitnesses, the incident occurred on Tuesday when Neha, a resident of Kapashera village, joined the queue at around 8am with her mother for registration as patient.
It is alleged she stood till 11am. While her mother went to fetch water, the girl fainted. She was then taken by the people around to the emergency room where she was declared brought dead.
The hospital authorities claim that their officials took Neha inside the hospital.
Following the incident, the authorities transferred the senior medical officer (SMO) to Mewat. He was also served a show-cause notice.
A class IV employee was also sacked from her job.
Both officials were reportedly present in the hospital when the girl was in the queue.
The victim’s family has not registered a complaint with the hospital authorities and no FIR has been registered in the matter.
Around 800 people visit the Civil Hospital OPD on an average every day. The long queues are partially covered in shade, but facilities such as fans and drinking water are not available in the vicinity.
