Stationery stalls also draw crowds at Delhi Book Fair
NEW DELHI: Books are not the only attraction at the 22nd Delhi Book Fair as visitors, especially students, throng the stationery stalls as well.
“I bought colours, pencils, paper weights and some books. I love coming to this fair because I get to see so many books and stationery items,” said Rohan Gupta, a Class-6 student who came with his family.
Over 250 national and international publishers are exhibiting at the fair. Organised by the Indian Trade Promotion Organisation in association with Federation of Indian Publishers, it was inaugurated by Union minister of science and technology and earth sciences, Harsh Vardhan, on Saturday.
A guide and a mobile application for the fair are also available for the event.
The event this year seeks to highlight central government initiatives under its ‘Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan’ programme to promote higher education.
Visitors clicked selfies with friends and family at various selfie stations that have cutouts depicting government campaigns such as ‘Make in India’, ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’, ‘Digital India’ and ‘Skill India’.
“Coming to fair is like an outing. You buy books and stationery, but it is also an opportunity to have fun,” said Shilpa Kaul, a banker.
The entry to the book fair is allowed from gate number 1, 7 and 10 of Pragati Maidan. The stationery fair is in Hall No 12 A. The entry for school and college students is free on showing a valid identity card.
