A 27-year-old transport operator was killed, while five others travelling on a truck were injured in two separate accidents in the city till Saturday morning, police said.
According to the police, in the first incident, a DTC low-floor bus ran over Sunil Kumar in outer Delhi’s Narela area around 8:30pm on Friday.
“The accident was reported from Ramdev Chowk in Narela when the bus driver failed to spot the victim, who was crossing a busy intersection,” said a police officer.
The errant bus driver soon fled after the incident. The police are trying to nab him.
In another incident, five persons travelling on a truck, transporting goods from north Delhi ’s Kashmere Gate, were injured after it broke a flyover’s railing and fell off.
“The accident was reported from the ISBT Flyover around 5am on Saturday,” said a police officer.
Police said the accident took place when a rear tyre of the vehicle burst while it was moving towards the flyover.
“The truck driver, identified as Salim, lost control. As a result, the vehicle rammed into the flyover’s iron railing and broke it. The vehicle fell two feet below the flyover,” the officer said, adding that five persons had suffered severe head injuries and are recuperating at a north Delhi hospital.
