One more Delhi high court blast victim was shifted to the the intensive care unit (ICU) of the trauma centre at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital after his condition deteriorated on Friday morning.
Rashid Ali, 23, a resident of Khajuri Khas in east Delhi, was shifted to the ICU after he was operated for a fracture in the right arm. “One of the main arteries was injured and we fixed it surgically. Due to excess bleeding, his condition deteriorated somewhat, so we shifted him to the ICU as a precautionary measure. He is responding to the treatment,” said a doctor, requesting anonymity.
Two of the blast victims are undergoing treatment in RML’s trauma ICU at present. The other victim in the ICU, Rattan Lal Shroff, 64, a resident of Model Town whose both legs were amputated, is still critical.
Doctors are trying hard to contain the spread of infection that has developed in his lungs. “He is not responding well to the treatment. His blood pressure is low and he is on ventilator,” said the doctor.
The September 7 blast has so far killed 14 and injured 76 people. Four people had to undergo amputation and many others were seriously injured.
The most recent victim to succumb to his injuries was Mridul Buxi, 34, who died of multiple organ failure on Thursday.
