In another incident that exposes the monstrous face of the city, an 11-year-old girl, who was working as a maid in a businessman's house, was rescued from Tilak Nagar area with a fractured leg and injury marks.

The minor was trafficked from Jharkhand to Delhi and had been working for the family for quite some time.

On a tip-off by a neighbour, she was rescued by NGO Shakti Vahini and a Delhi Police team on Friday.

"It was a horrific situation. According to the girl, a brick fell on her leg while she was washing utensils. She told her employers about the incident but they did not provide her proper medical care," said Rishi Kant, a member of Shakti Vahini.

"After we rescued her, we found that her leg was fractured. She had been going through excruciating pain, but was made to work long hours despite her injury," Kant added.

The minor girl had been working as a domestic maid for a long time -- first in Jharkhand and then in Delhi.

"Her father and step-mother first sent her to work at a household in Jharkhand. She was later lured by a woman trafficker and sold to a placement agency in Shakurpur," he added.

The girl has been moved to Nirmal Chaya Children's Home. The child welfare committee has, meanwhile, directed the police to register a case against the employers.
