An 11-year-old girl was allegedly raped several times by two persons, one of who was known to her family, in central Delhi’s West Patel Nagar locality.
The police arrested the two accused, Anil Kumar, 45, and Mohmmad Umer, 20, on Monday. Kumar had threatened the victim with dire consequences if she failed to keep her ordeal a secret.
“Anil Kumar allegedly raped the victim for over a period of a month. He then told his neighbour Mohammed Umer about it and then Umer started raping for over a week too,” Karnal Singh, joint commissioner of police (northern range), told HT on Tuesday.
“It was yesterday that the victim finally broke down and told her mother and uncle about the abuse and they then went to the police. A medical examination confirmed rape and the two accused were then arrested,” Singh said.
The victim is a class IV student at a government school. The police said Kumar, the main accused, lured her into going to his house.
“Since she knew Kumar, she went to his house and then he allegedly raped her. After that he repeatedly raped her over a month. When Umer got to know about this, he first blackmailed Kumar into letting him rape the girl too, ” said a senior police officer on the condition of anonymity as he is not authorised to speak to the media.
