A 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour in south Delhi’s Neb Sarai area on Tuesday night, police said.
“The incident took place in the Sanjay Colony area located in the Neb Sarai locality on Tuesday night when the victim went out of her home. She claims that she was lured away by her neighbour and raped,” said a senior police officer.
Police said the victim had claimed that her neighbour, identified as Irfan, engaged her in conversation and asked her to accompany him home.
“Since the accused is her neighbour, she went along without asking any questions. As soon as she entered his house, he forced himself on her and sexually assaulted her,” the officer said.
According to police, the victim was rushed to the AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) after she related the incident to her parents where medical examination confirmed sexual assault.
“We have registered a case and are on the lookout for Irfan who is absconding since the incident,” the officer added.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Police has finally admitted that the eight-year-old girl whose decaying body was found at a construction site in central Delhi’s Patel Nagar on January 11, was raped before being strangulated to death.
“We have received her post mortem report. It has confirmed sexual assault,” said a senior police officer.
According to police, the girl child had gone missing from her residence in Prem Nagar on January 3 and a case of kidnapping had been registered on the same day.
“A few construction workers recovered her body from the site located at some distance from her house in the morning on Wednesday,” said the officer.
Police said the workers discovered the decaying body of the eight-year-old victim when they attempted to ascertain the source of a foul smell emanating from below a pile of debris.
