Bisrakh police arrested a man and rescued a 14-year-old boy on Friday from near Saini village. The boy was kidnapped on December 9.

Atul Saxena, superintendent of police (Greater Noida) said, “One kidnapper, Ajay Kumar Yadav, has been arrested while four others managed to escape. They had come in a white Wagon R car with no number plate. The accused were distributing the ransom money.”

“Former village pradhan Ram Singh and the boy’s father, Satpal Singh Yadav, were called by kidnappers to take the money and handover the boy. A police team kept a watch from a distance,” said HC Joshi, SHO at Bisrakh police station.

“The boy, Sumit Yadav, is a Class 9 student at RDS Memorial school in Ghaziabad. He kidnapped when he was returning from school. Earlier, the kidnappers had demanded R1 crore as ransom. Later, a deal was struck at R15 lakh. Family members had given R15 lakh to the accused last month but the boy was not released. They demanded R15 lakh more else threatened to kill him,” Joshi said.

“On Friday, they had come to collect the remaining R15 lakh when one of the robbers was arrested after a brief encounter,” he added.

Interrogation of the arrested man revealed he was a distant relative of the victim’s family. He told police that Sarfaraj alias Zulifikar Ali was the mastermind. He had worked as a carpenter at victim’s house three months ago.
