Several government vehicles were damaged and smoke bellowed for close to two hours from an underground parking lot after a short circuit resulted in a medium-intensity blaze at the CGO Complex in south Delhi on Tuesday evening.
According to the Delhi Fire Service (DFS), the blaze was reported around 5:10pm from the said complex, which comprises several government offices, including those belonging to the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).
“No one was injured during the incident. As many as 15 fire tenders were rushed to the spot,” said a senior DFS official.
“At least 15 vehicles were damaged in the fire. As it spread, it also engulfed close to a dozen Ambassador cars and disfigured their facades completely,” said a senior police officer.
“A section of the parking area also serves as a storage area for some files and office stationery and offices close to the spot where the fire broke out,” a DFS official said.
