A 16-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by four of her classmates in northwest Delhi’s Bawana area on March 13 afternoon. The culprits, all aged between 16 and 17 years, have been apprehended, police said on Monday.
The girl and the four juveniles study in a private school near Bawana village, police said.
“The victim told her parents about the incident, who then reported it to the village panchayat (council). The panchayat decided to report the matter to the police,” said a senior officer.
Police said they were approached on March 16 and the victim’s statement was recorded. She claimed that one of the juvenile accused had lured her to his house and forced himself on her in the presence of the other three, who were not directly involved in the crime. After her medical examination confirmed rape, the four were apprehended.
“The other three juveniles have also been booked under the same sections as they did not, in any way, attempt to stop the accused,” said the officer.
The incident follows the brutal sexual assault of a Class 2 student at a government school in Mangolpuri on February 28. The culprit(s) is yet to be arrested. htc
