A 17-year-old girl was found dead in a flat in the Mangolpuri area here on Thursday. The Class 12 girl allegedly committed suicide but her family cried foul and alleged that she was murdered by a local youth.

Edwin, the victim's father, alleged that his daughter was murdered by the son of 'a local family of criminals'.

According to the girl's family, she had left for school around 7am as usual on Thursday but did not return home by 1pm.

After some time, her parents started looking for her. When they couldn't find her, they approached the local police station. Soon, they learnt that their daughter had committed suicide.

The victim's father has alleged that the youth, Arif, had murdered her. A suicide note has been recovered from Arif. "Arif belongs to a family of criminals. He killed my daughter after sexually exploited her," he said.

Based on this note, the police said they had facts to prove that she was in a relationship with Arif.

But her father has overruled the allegation and said, "She had nothing to do with Arif. There was no friendship or relationship between them. The police are lying."

"How can there be a suicide note? My daughter was murdered in cold blood. She wanted to change our family's fate," said Edwin.

Meanwhile, MA Rizvi, additional DCP (outer) said the police were investigating the case.

"We are waiting for her post-mortem report. Arif has been arrested for rape and abduction. A murder charge can be added only after we get the post-mortem report," he said.
