Nineteen people, including passengers of a mini bus, were injured in two separate road accidents reported from different areas in the Capital in the last 24 hours.
In the first accident, nine passengers suffered injuries, two critically, after a mini bus (RTV) they were travelling in overturned in outer Delhi's Bawana area on Saturday morning.
Police said the accident took place at 8am, around half-an-hour after another mini bus ferrying schoolchildren overturned near Bawana crossing. Seven children were injured in this accident.
A senior police officer said there were around 20 passengers in the bus when the accident took place due the driver's negligence. The driver was reportedly driving under the influence of alcohol.
"The mini bus first rammed a tree and then overturned on the road. The victims told us that the driver was driving rashly and that he was drunk. The injured were rushed to Maharishi Valmiki Hospital from where seven were discharged after first aid. Two passengers who were critically injured were recuperating at the hospital," said a police officer. Driver Prabhash, 26, was arrested under relevant sections of IPC.
The second accident took place late on Friday in west Delhi's Mundka where 10 labourers were injured after the truck they were in overturned on Rohtak Road. The injured were taken to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital from where they were discharged after treatment.
