A minor argument over two two-wheelers brushing each other on Friday afternoon ended with a 19-year-old boy's death who was brutally attacked with a helmet.
The shocking incident took place in Mongolpuri area of outer Delhi at 2:30pm on Friday. Akash, the victim, was on his way home on his scooter when his two-wheeler brushed past a motorcycle. A father-son duo was on the bike.
"Anil (19) and his father, Shrawan, were on the motorcycle when Akash's scooter accidentally brushed past their bike. The father and son got off their bike and started hitting Akash mercilessly with their helmet," said a senior police officer, requesting anonymity.
The victim worked with a printing press.
Police said Anil and Akash got into a heated argument after their vehicles collided. "We are taking the statement of local residents/eyewitnesses to establish the sequence of events. After being hit by a helmet on the head, Akash started bleeding and was rushed to the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead," the officer added. A case of murder has been registered at the Mongolpuri police station and the father-son duo has been arrested.
"The accused run a shop and were going to purchase some item. A local person made the PCR call and the duo was immediately detained after that. During questioning, they told us that they attacked Akash in a fit of rage and a blow on the head proved fatal," the police officer added.
Akash's family members have been informed about the incident and his body has been sent for post-mortem examination. Further investigations in the case are on.
