Two people, including a three-year-old girl, were charred to death in a fire at a Karkardooma slum in East Delhi Monday.
The charred remains of Shamshad (47) and a three-year-old unidentified girl were recovered from the debris.
The fire, which broke out around 3 p.m., engulfed more than 50 hutments. Half of them served as storage depots for the area’s ragpickers.
These were the first to catch fire as they were made of and contained flammable material.
