Two city government officials - allegedly involved in a Rs 4,000 crore scam of fraudulent allotment of land to defunct cooperative housing societies - have been discharged by a Delhi court for want of evidence.

The court also transferred the case for further trial of eight other co-accused to a magisterial court, saying that with the discharge of two government officials, it ceased to have jurisdiction over it.

Special judge RP Pandey discharged the registrar of Cooperative Societies officials SD Sharma and Debajit Dutta at the stage of framing of charges due to lack evidence against them.
