The Delhi Police on Saturday arrested two men for allegedly buying one child each from a 57-year-old sadhvi and her gang, police said.
The two were arrested from northeast Delhi.
On October 18, the sadhvi and six others were arrested for allegedly kidnapping children from south and southeast Delhi before selling them off to childless couples in the NCR.
“We have arrested two men — Somprakash and Rajnish — from northeast Delhi. Both of them had bought one male child each from the gang, said a senior Delhi Police officer from the investigation team.
Police said the children had been kidnapped from various locations in southeast Delhi and handed over to the men for Rs 50,000 to 60,000.
The seven-member gang had allegedly been kidnapping children from economically vulnerable neighbourhoods and selling them to childless couples since 2008.
The deals had been struck keeping the customer's social and economic background and desperation in mind.
While the normal rate was mostly around Rs 50,000 per child, the gang had struck deals for double that amount on several instances, the officer said.
Police said several specially constituted teams have been scouring the NCR to rescue other children targeted by the gang.
