Two persons, including a physically challenged man, were arrested by Delhi Police for cheating people by selling fake gold bricks as genuine.

The arrested have been identified as Ikram (30), who is physically challenged, and Kumedan (23). The arrest came following investigations into a complaint filed by Ram Prakash that he was cheated by some people who sold him fake gold bricks.

Ikram, whose right hand was amputated in an accident, was not in good financial condition and got in touch with Arif and Guddad who allegedly used to cheat people by selling them fake gold bricks as genuine.

“He started delivering fake gold brick for them and used to get R20,000 as commission for every deal. Kumedan also used to deliver the fake gold bricks for Arif and Guddad and thus he became friend of Ikram,” Chhaya Sharma, DCP (south) said.

Arif used to procure fake bricks from a jeweller of Julehda in Rajasthan and then used to strike deal with innocent customers through telephone.

When the deal was finalised, Ikram and Kumedan would be sent to deliver the gold and receive the money. Both of them were given a piece of genuine gold which would be planted as piece cut from the original brick.
