2 racers held for Delhi rash driving death

A race between a Honda CRV and a Hyundai i20 turned deadly early Friday morning when one of the cars ran over a 65-year-old man, who was sleeping on the pavement near Delhi Zoo at Mathura Road.

"The CRV came to a standstill after hitting a tree, but the i20 hit the divider and crushed a man who was sleeping there," a police officer said.

Eyewitnesses said both cars were speeding.

"They were coming from a party at 2.15am," the officer added.

While CRV driver Ashish Gupta is a student, Vikas Sharma, who was driving the i20, owns a jewellery shop. Both have been arrested.
