The railways on Wednesday decided to suspend a seniormost official in connection with some MPs not getting AC first class coupe in Delhi-bound Rajdhani Express from Patna.
"We have decided to take strong action and we will suspend the seniormost official involved in this. This is not acceptable that Parliamentarians have to face this," railway minister Dinesh Trivedi said outside Parliament.
There were total 26 MPs coming to Delhi from Patna yesterday. However, railways could accommodate only 6 MPs with their spouses in AC first class and the rest were accommodated in AC second class in Patna Rajdhani yesterday.
All MPs could not be accommodated in AC first class because of the paucity of berths as many berths were already booked well in advance.
Meanwhile, Railways also decided a special cell for handling reservations for MPs. The cell will start functioning three days before parliament session begins and will be operational till three days after the end of the session.
"If railways fail to provide berths, MPs will be informed well in advance," sources in railways said adding "special coaches will be added, if required."
