A 20-year-old boy died when he lost control of his bike and crashed into a railing in south Delhi's Hauz Khas on Wednesday night.
The victim, identified as Shiva Mehatto, was driving a Yamaha Fazer bike.
"The incident took place in front of Gargi College. Mehatto was driving and his friend Rahul was rising pillion. Rahul was injured and is currently undergoing treatment at AIIMS trauma centre," a senior police officer said.
Police said the duo was going towards Khel Gaon from Greater Kailash to meet their friends.
"We suspect that they were going at a high speed. We haven't been able to find any eyewitnesses and the survivor of the accident is not fit to give us a statement yet," the officer said, adding that the bike first hit a pillar and then crashed into the railing.
Mehatto, who worked at a restaurant and lived in Zamrudpur, was declared brought dead at the hospital.
The body has been handed over to the family after the post mortem examination.
Mehatto's father is a labourer while Rahul works as a car cleaner. They were going to meet their friends after the Diwali celebrations.
"Mehatto died due to head injuries and excessive bleeding. Rahul broke his foot and also has injuries on other parts of his body," a doctor at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences said.
