The constant interference of his father in his life infuriated a 21-year-old youth to the extent that he allegedly stabbed him to death at their Moti Nagar house in west Delhi on February 15.
A Moti Nagar police team, led by SHO Raj Kumar, arrested the accused, identified as Satish, while he was planning to flee the city.
V Renganathan, additional commissioner of police (west), said Satish was apprehended on a tip-off from Rakahi Market Zakhira in west Delhi. The accused had been at large after murdering his father Banwari Lal (65), Renganathan said.
“Satish was miffed by his father's frequent intrusion in his personal life. Lal objected to Satish’s habit of consuming alcohol and bringing girls to their house,” said Renganathan.
Police had learnt about Lal’s murder from Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Hospital, where he was admitted in a serious condition, after being attacked by his son.
An investigating officer said Lal’s other son Surajbhan had told the police that his father had an argument with his younger brother Satish. On the fateful day, Satish went from the house and returned late in the night only to attack his father, the officer said.
“Satish has revealed that he used to bring girls to his house daily, which his father did not like. He was against such things, which irritated him. Satish wanted to get rid of all these restrictions. On the fateful night, Satish, in an inebriated condition, attacked his father brutally,” added the officer.
