A 21-year-old woman was found murdered at her parents' home in east Delhi while her younger brother was found in a pool of blood on Monday evening, police said.
Identified as Sarita, who got married a year ago, the victim was found struggling to survive a deep gash on her neck by her mother and sister-in-law at their house in Vinod Nagar's lane number four around 5.30 pm.
"Sarita, whose father Ashok is a construction contractor, was visiting her parents. Her mother and sister-in-law had gone to the market. When they returned an hour later, they found the main door ajar and the house ransacked," said an officer.
When the women entered the house, they found Sarita lying on a bed with blood oozing from her neck, police said. Her brother, a 15-year-old studying in class 10, was found injured as well.
Police said the women had claimed they had seen four-five men moving suspiciously about the house while walking down from the market.
But the police said the criminals' entry seemed to have been friendly.
"Sarita's brother is currently admitted in the Lal Bahadur Shastri (LBS) Hospital and his condition is serious. Sarita was declared dead by the doctors. We have registered a case of murder-cum-robbery at the Madhu Vihar police station and investigation is underway," the officer added.
