A 22-year-old computer networking student, suspected to have been jilted in love, allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan at his rented accommodation in east Delhi’s Mandawali area on Saturday.
“The victim has been identified as Mani Shankar. He was found hanging at his rented accommodation in Mandawali late last evening,” said a senior police officer.
Police said Shankar, who hailed from the Sonbhadra district in Uttar Pradesh, was found hanging by his friends who went to his house to ascertain why he wasn’t attending classes for sometime.
Police said he was rushed to the Lal Bahadur Shastri hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead on arrival.
“Though Shankar hasn’t left behind a suicide note, we are questioning his family and friends about the incident. It appears that Shankar, who is stated to be in a relationship, was depressed for sometime,” said the officer.
