A 23-year-old Delhi police constable was stabbed to death outside the Adarsh Nagar Metro station in north Delhi on Saturday night.
Harikesh Meena, a resident of Dausa in Rajasthan, was posted at the Narela police station in north Delhi.
"There were stab injuries on his chest. He may have been attacked by a gang of smack addicts," said Meenu Choudhary, DCP (Northwest).
After finishing his duty at 8pm, Meena, who had joined the force last year, told his senior that he was going back to the police barracks in Malviya Nagar in south Delhi.
It is, however, unclear why Meena was at the Adarsh Nagar station, which is on the route to Malviya Nagar. A PCR van near the spot received a call about the murder around 11.30pm.
"We don't have any eyewitness yet. CCTV cameras at the stations are also being examined," the officer added.
"It appears to be a case of a robbery, but no angle can be ignored," Choudhary added.
