A 23-year-old BPO employee jumped to her death from the Moti Nagar flyover in west Delhi on Thursday, police said. Before taking the extreme step the deceased, Deepti Wadhwa, sent a text message to her brother and sister saying, “I am sorry.”
Wadhwa, a Paschim Vihar resident, worked for Tech Mahindra, a BPO in Noida’s sector-8. Police said Wadhwa returned home from work around 5.30am on Monday. An hour later, she left her home in her Wagon R car after telling her mother that she was going for a walk.
“Witnesses say she parked her car and then jumped off the flyover. She was rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay hospital where she was declared dead. The reason is not clear,” said V Renganathan, DCP (west).
Investigators have recovered a diary from her car. “We are also speaking to her brother and other family members as well as her colleagues, college and school friends,” a senior police officer said. The security guard posted at the colony gates told the police that after she left her home in the morning, a young man had come asking for her. “We are also trying to establish the identity of that man,” he said.
Police was checking Wadhwa’s phone call details. “We are checking on those people who were in touch with Deepti before she took the extreme step. We are examining whether there she was depressed over some issues in office or if it was her personal life,” said the officer.
“Her colleagues said she was in a jovial mood in office,” said Renganathan.
