With 25 more people testing positive for Dengue on Monday, the total number of those suffering from the vector-borne disease in the national capital this season climbed to 391.

"Since last evening, 25 people have tested positive for Dengue, and that takes the number of cases this season to 391," Municipal Health Officer, MCD, N K Yadav told PTI.

Last month saw a spurt in the number of Dengue cases with the previous week registering over 20 cases per day on an average.

Two persons have succumbed to the disease this season and civic officials are hoping for an early winter so that the disease ebbs away.

Yadav said generally, maximum cases occur during the month of October and the number of cases could show a downward trend once winter sets in.

There has been a spurt in dengue cases in the city this month though the figure is still far less than the last year, when over 1,000 cases were reported.

The first dengue death was reported in the city on October 23 when a 15-year-old boy succumbed to the disease at AIIMS. The second was that of a nine-year-old boy who breathed his last at the LNJP hospital last week.

The MCD has intensified measures to prevent the spread of the disease and has been conducting fogging operations in various areas, officials said.
