A 25-year-old fruit seller was stabbed to death by unknown assailants in outer Delhi’s Bawana area late on Sunday night.

According to the police, the body of the victim, identified as Mohammad Mustaqim, was found lying in a pool of blood at an isolated plot in JJ Colony, Bawana locality, on Monday morning.

The family members of the deceased have alleged that Mustaqim was killed by his three friends with whom he had gone to attend a party on Sunday evening.

A case of murder has been registered at the Narela police station and the police are probing the case from all possible angles.

During investigation, a senior police officer said that they had learnt that Mustaqim had left his house with his three friends and together they had consumed liquor somewhere in the area.

“There were stab wounds in his neck and abdomen which suggest that he was attacked with a sharp weapon. We are looking for his three friends who will be questioned in the case,” the officer said, adding Mustaqim had a criminal record.

Mustaqim’s body was handed over to his family members after post-mortem examination, the officer added.
