A 25-year-old man was found dead under mysterious circumstances outside the house of his alleged girlfriend in Giri Market area of Loni on Saturday night, police said.
Naveen Aggarwal was found shot dead with a country-made pistol outside the house of his alleged girlfriend of four years, police said. While the victim was a matriculate, his girlfriend, daughter of a Delhi police official, has completed her post-graduation.
Aggarwal's family members on Sunday lodged an FIR against the woman and her family members, alleging murder. "They both had a love affair for the past four years. Her family members had called him to their house on Saturday. They conspired and killed him," said the victim's father.
"They both fell in love after they met in Haridwar several years ago. Since the girl was more educated than the victim, she refused to marry him. They both fought over the matter on Saturday, and Naveen slapped her four times on the road," senior superintendent of police (SSP) Raghubir Lal said.
The victim is believed to have followed the woman after the incident and was later found shot dead just outside her doorsteps on Saturday.
"We have detained the woman's father and brother after the incident for questioning. Prima facie, it seems to be a case of suicide as the woman's family members were found at home after the incident and police also recovered a country-made pistol lying few feet away from the victim's body," the SSP said.
The woman has admitted to the police that she never wanted to marry him and had asked him to come to her house, police said. No arrests have been made so far in the case.
