A 25-year-old woman was found murdered inside the room of a hotel in central Delhi’s Paharganj on Tuesday afternoon. Police said a man had accompanied the victim when she had come to stay at Karan Palace hotel in Paharganj on Monday.
Police said the two had introduced themselves as a couple. “They had claimed to be residents of Lucknow. The booking was done in the name of Rashid and Shazia,” a hotel staff said.
On Tuesday morning, Rashid had left the hotel after informing the receptionist that his wife was in the room. “At 1.30pm, a hotel staff went to clean the room and found the woman dead on the bed,” the staff added.
Initial investigation revealed that the woman had been strangled and there were injury marks on her face.
“We have found that the two were residents of east Delhi’s Maujpur and not Lucknow and that they had been divorced for the past one-and-half years. We have called their family members for questioning and the accused will be arrested soon,” a senior police officer said. The police have also scanned the CCTV footage of the hotel and identified the accused.
