A 25-year-old man was stabbed to death by five men right next to Connaught Place police station on Wednesday night. The deceased has been identified as Tatia.

Tatia sold smack in the vicinity of the Hanuman temple on Baba Kharak Singh Marg. The police have arrested the five accused, who have been identified as Rohit alias Nanhe, Vijay alais Viju, Dhanjeet, Vinod and Bobby. All of them were addicts and lived in the same locality.

"On Wednesday around 10.30pm, Tatia, along with his wife Laachi and newborn, was sleeping on the footpath when the accused, armed with knives, reached the spot and stabbed him after a scuffle," said a senior police officer. Laachi and a relative Rohit (14) tried to intervene, but were also stabbed. They were rushed to RML Hospital where Tatia was declared brought dead.
