Delhi police have arrested a husband-wife duo for killing a small-time film producer and chopping his body into pieces before disposing it.
Police said the accused woman, Shama Khalid, 24, was the victim's business partner and they ran a dance academy in Najafgarh.
The victim Sanjay Rohilla had started liking Shama while working with her. Her husband Mohammad Khalid, 28, objected to this and warned the victim.
Police found Rohilla's highly decomposed body, chopped into pieces, from a house in Najafgarh on the morning of June 13. People living in nearby flats had noticed a foul smell coming from the house and had informed the police.
During their investigation, the police found that a woman, who was his business partner, had contacted the victim several times on the fateful day.
"After identifying the body, we zeroed in on Shama Khalid after scanning her call records. She and her husband were later arrested," said AK Ojha, additional commissioner of police (southwest).
During his interrogation, Khalid told the police that the victim worked with his wife and they even produced small-budget films. "Sanjay Rohilla developed a liking towards Shama and started pestering her for a response. When Khalid got to know about it, he warned Rohilla," Ojha added.
Police said Khalid decided to kill Rohilla when the latter continued to pester his wife. The couple and their two associates named Dinesh and Jitu then decided to kill him.
On June 6, Rohilla was invited to a flat in Najafgarh on the pretext of a cocktail party. "They consumed liquor together and put some poisonous substance in Rohilla's drink. After he fell unconscious, they killed him and chopped his body into pieces," Ojha said.
