A 28-year-old woman, working in a call centre, was found dead near Surajkund on Friday.
The deceased Jigisha Ghosh, a resident of CPWD flats in Vasant Vihar, went missing on March 18. She was dropped off near
her flat by the office cab in the morning. She was working as a manager with a Hewitt Associates Private Limited, in Noida.
Jigisha’s father, Jagannath Ghosh, a retired official of the Health Ministry, filed a missing complaint with the Vasant
Vihar police the next day. The police later registered a kidnapping case on March 19.
She knew assailants
Jigisha left for her office on March 17 and was to come back at about 4:00 a.m. The police found that she was dropped off at her house at around 4.30 am but didn’t reach her house. According to her call records, she was talking to a colleague till 5:00 am and that was the last that was known about her.
The police suspect that she went with someone known to her. “It seems that the assailant knew her. Had she been kidnapped, she would have called for help. But people in the area did not hear anything,” said a police officer.
What happened next
Jigisha’s body was found on Surajkund road towards Bhatkal Lake in Faridabad Friday evening. A truck driver spotted the decomposed body behind a bush. The identity of the deceased was established on Saturday morning.
No sexual assault
A senior Delhi police officer said examination had confirmed that she was not sexually assaulted but was strangled to death. Jigisha’s body has been sent for autopsy to PGI Hospital in Rohtak.
ATM card used
“Someone used Jigisha’s ATM card and did shopping worth around Rs. 70, 000. The police tracked her through her mobile phone, which was switched on and was found 200 meters away from the body.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, south district, HGS Dhaliwal said, “We are probing all possible angles. From initial investigations, it is suspected that some insider may be involved.”
